The last claim against BP for the 2005 Texas City refinery explosion was dismissed Tuesday for lack of evidence, ending years of state court litigation for deaths, injuries and property damage. There have bene numerous cases reported and discussed on this blog before, but with this decision, besides one appeal, the Texas City, TX blast appears to be closed. BP has disclosed that it has spent about $1 billion overhauling the refinery.

BP set aside over $2.0 billion dollars to deal with this tragedy.
The case that Criss threw out Tuesday involved a plaintiff who said less than $1,000 worth of personal property was damaged in his home by the blast, said Sherry Chandler, who represented the client.
