Family Files Salmonella-Related Wrongful Death Suit

The operators of a Georgia peanut butter plant and an Ohio distributor were negligent in the death of a 72-year-old woman, says a lawsuit filed by family members. In the lawsuit, relatives of Shirley Mae Almer claim that she died as a result of a nationwide salmonella outbreak that has been linked to the Peanut Corp. of America and distributor King Nut. The lawsuit seeks damages in excess of $50,000 against the companies.
