In 2003, Advanced Bionics Corporation released for sale the HiRes90k, also known as the HiResolution cochlear implant system, to help deaf persons learn to hear. The device is tabbed by some as a “miracle,” but lawsuits filed have alleged that Advanced Bionics failed to place patient safety at the highest level of priority.
