Some women develop a condition known as urinary incontinence. Urinary incontinence is described as the involuntary leakage of urine from the bladder, and is estimated to affect over 13 million adults in the US alone, mostly women over the age of 60 (but there is no age limit – this condition effects women of all ages). At times, this onset of symptoms is caused by stress, leading to stress urinary incontinence, or SUI. Stress urinary incontinence is brought about during physical exertion such as coughing, laughing, sneezing, or lifting. The stress urinary incontinence becomes worse during high impact sports activities like golf, tennis, and aerobics. It is a life-changing condition that requires medical help in many circumstances.
While there have been many avenues for trying to help this condition, one hopeful solution was the vaginal sling, also known as the TVT sling (or transvaginal tape sling). The vaginal sling is inserted into the patient using anchors to the pubic bone. Despite numerous complications, companies continues to manufacture and doctors continued to implant patients with the TVT sling. 1000′s of complaints later, patients are now seeking relief in the court system for help.
We are attorneys who offer help to those who received a transvaginal mesh sling, or transvaginal tape system and have sustained injuries including mesh erosion, infections, pain, and even reoccurence of urinary incontinence. Loss of sexual activity with a spouse or loved one is a painful side effect, as well. In all, there are numerous ways this medical device can disrupt your life. We are here to try and help.
If you received a transvaginal mesh / sling and have been injured, you may be entitled to monetary compensation. Problems include pain, inability to have intercourse, bleeding, mesh growth into the body, and more. Problems could be irreversible.
