Attorney Ed Wallis is currently reviewing potential Wellbutrin lawsuits involving women who took Wellbutrin during early pregnancy and suffered adverse side effectsm, including congenital heart defects in infants. Wellbutrin, an antidepressant prescription drug generically called Bupropion hydrochloride, has been linked in a recent study to serious side effects in women who take this drug during early pregnancy. This study, published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, suggests that women who take Wellbutrin during early pregnancy may run a greater risk for having a child born with a heart birth defect. This includes left outflow heart defects.

A study in the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology published results showing that mothers of infants with left outflow heart defects were more likely to have reported taking buproprion than mothers of control infants, and that the study identified a positive association between early pregnancy bupropion use and left outflow tract heart defects. The study’s authors include Sura Alwan, MSc, Jennita Reefhuis, PhD, and Lorenzo D Botto, MD, among others.

Bupropion is marketed as Wellbutrin, Wellbutrin XL, and Wellbutrin XR.

If you or a loved one took Wellbutrin during early pregnancy and had a child born with a birth defect, this side effect may be associated with Wellbutrin. Attorney Ed Wallis is currently reviewing potential Wellbutrin lawsuits. If you have a question or have suffered serious side effects, Wellbutrin lawyer Ed Wallis can be reached by email or by calling +1 901.275.0600 or 1-800-632-1404.
